The Child and the Fairies

The woods are full of fairies!
The trees are all alive;
The river overflows with them,
See how they dip and dive!
What a funny little fellows!
What dainty little dears!
They dance and leap, and prance and peep,
And utter fairy cheers!

I'd like to tame a fairy,
To keep it on a shelf,
To see it wash its little face,
And dress its little self.
I'd teacher it pretty manners,
It always should say "Please";
And then you know I'd make it sew,
And curtsey with its knees!

Fairy Voyage

If I were just a fairy small,
I'd take a leaf and sail away,
I'd sit astride the stem and guide
It straight to Fairyland and stay.

The Rainbow Faeries

Two little clouds, one summer's day,
Went flying through the sky;
They went so fast they bumped their heads,
And both began to cry.

Old Father Sun looked out and said:
'Oh, never mind, my dears,
I'll send my little fairy folk
To dry your falling tears.'

One fairy came in violet,
And one wore indigo;
In blue, green, yellow, orange, red,
They made a pretty row.

They wiped the cloud-tears all away,
And then from out the sky,
Upon a line the sunbeams made,
They hung their gowns to dry.

Believe in the Fairies

Believe in the Fairies
Who make dreams come true.
Believe in the wonder,
The stars and the moon.
Believe in the magic,
From Fairies above.
They dance on the flowers,
And sing songs of love.
And if you just believe,
And always stay true,
The Fairies will be there,
To watch over you!

I always wanted to create a page and just decorate it with fairies. Not really for any particular reason, except they are just so whimsical and pretty to look at. Our childhood stories spoke of the wonderul Fairy Godmother. We all anxiously awaited the arrival of the Tooth Fairy. They were always fluttering about in our imagination.  I was always partial to Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. A fairy has the grace and beauty of a bird, with the understanding of a human. What an entertaining thought!
  I've done this little tribute to fairies for the enjoyment of creating something pretty. I do not believe that fairies have any religious significance!!! I see them as delightful creatures of our childhood imagination ....... a lovely fantasy.
